ABOUT ME

Hello! And thanks for visiting my page. I’m the author of Dawn of Deoridium. Here’s a bit about myself.

I grew up in Western Massachusetts, where my childhood was filled with sports, art, and music. Basketball was my first love, though these days I’m more likely to be found on a tennis court or a hiking trail. My interest in art grew out of equal parts Bob Ross and X-Men comics, and music was always close at hand—my mom taught me piano, and I later took up singing and guitar.

I studied Electrical Engineering in both college and graduate school and worked in the field for several years, but music was my true passion at the time. In 2005, I moved to New York City to pursue a career as a singer-songwriter (you can find links on the Music tab). After a decade of making albums, producing videos, and playing shows, I pivoted back to engineering and began teaching at a local college. Around that same period, I also started dabbling in musical theater. When a friend asked, “Why don’t you write a musical?” the idea sparked something else entirely: not a musical, but a fantasy novel.

I began writing Dawn of Deoridium in 2014. After five years of working largely on my own, I joined a writer’s workshop—conveniently located just one block from my new apartment, which I took as a sign. Within a few weeks, I made the difficult decision to discard about 95% of what I’d written. It was frightening, but necessary. The feedback I received echoed instincts I’d had all along, and hearing them voiced by other writers made those truths impossible to ignore.

From there, I committed to the process: weekly submissions, writing, and rewriting. I remember the satisfaction of completing the first draft, quickly followed by the realization that I still had a long way to go. Two more years and several drafts later, I finally had a finished book.

Dawn of Deoridium is the first book in a series entitled “The Shift” so keep your eyes out for Book Two!
